The Garden Workington

Visited the Garden today. Waitress “forgot” to put our order through. Not very busy so no excuse there. When they asked what we had ordered they then told us no pizzas as they had been busy due to school holidays – surely a business should account for this ?? Shouldn’t this have been cascaded to the waiting staff that there were no pizzas (we then wouldn’t have had a 25 minute wait to discover the waiting staff forgot the order). I have seen lots of other negative reviews but thought I would give them a chance. Won’t be back

Ignore all the haters, the Garden is fast becoming the place to eat and relax with friends and family.

Yesterday (sunday) my daughter and I had visited The Garden , I heard a few good reports on the place.
We are extremely disappointed with our experience.
The greeting We had from walking in was ” errrr, wrong menu” , wow, what a greeting! I work in hospitality myself and I would never greet a customer in this manner.
We were told to sit at table 12.
We literally had picked up the menu to be then greeted by a different staff member with, ” what do you want?”
Excuse me I replied for him to then say “drink”
We should of walked out by this point but we thought we would give it the benefit of the doubt.
Well, we ordered drinks, then asked upon delivery, “what you eating??”…….I replied….how about asking if we are ready for a food order, the look on the waiters face was blank! So then I said a few more minutes please.
2 minutes later the same staff member came back asking ” you ready yet?”
Bloody hell! Where’s the politeness in this place
I ordered the bagel with chicken n halloumi, my daughter ordered the wrap with rice, mozzarella and halloumi but asked if she could have not mozzarella but still have the halloumi, the lad replied, “no cheese” we then said just no mozzarella but still the halloumi please, he then walked away!
We waited 25 minutes which we weren’t that bothered about the wait as in our minds it’s fresh, hot and tasty…..nope! Not any of this!
My dish was barely warm, the halloumi was wafer-thin, my daughters dish was full of what looked like packet rice – Mr Ben’s! No halloumi , not a trace, we asked a staff if we could have halloumi in the wrap , which the plate was taken away with not a single apology!
We waited 25 minutes for my daughters food to arrive to find that 1 it was still luke warm and still the thinnest slice of halloumi, not even a crisp coating on each side! Shock!
We also ordered the pizza fries but blummin ek, I think the cook/chef must of lightly fried them in the morning then just covered the cold chips with cheese and 3 pepperoni slices to kind of make the chips warmish, room temp !
All in all our experience from start to finish was not the best at all, far from it.
There were 5 members of front of house staff to which 3 of them were just slobberly leaning over the counter, very rude looking! I would never allow my staff to approach, speak, lto my customers the way we were or ook like they dont want to be in work ,!! Sorry to the owners of the place as it really does look lovely and clean , the service and food really let the place down
